In My… Cleaning Basket

I adore a tidy and clean home. You too? The smell of commercial products don’t register with me as “clean,” but chemical. For good reason, most commercial cleaning products contain toxins that are hazardous to your health, entering the blood stream through our skin and the air we breathe. Below are some of my favorite products that will keep your family and you in top shape. Your pets too!

Here’s what you’ll find under my sink.

1) BioKleen Dishwashing Liquid
I love all BioKleen products, notably their all purpose cleaner and dish washer powder.

2) Bon Ami
Around since 1886, this scouring powder is rated A by the EWG. We use it to clean counters, showers, sinks and anywhere you need a scrub. How adorable is that packaging?

3) White Vinegar
Plain old white vinegar is a most excellent natural cleaner that kills mold, bacteria and germs. Mix this with warm water to clean glass, windows, and shower stalls. Also good for cleaning out the fridge and the inside of your dishwasher. We’re never without this, it’s my go-to cleaning solution.

4) Ecover Dishwashing Tabs
These li’l tabs really pack a punch. They actually work, making dishes sparkle. It took me a long time to find an organic dishwashing cleanser I preferred. I found it.

5) dōTERRA On Guard
This all-purpose cleanser is, as my son’s friends like to say, amazeballs. Dilute in warm water and use it for everything. On Guard is anti-viral and anti-bacterial. I’ve used it to spot clean carpets and upholstery too. It’s smells so delish you’ll want to sip it. But, please, don’t. This contains essential oils and is available here.

6) Hand Cream by Valley Green Naturals
By my kitchen sink at all times, this hand cream is designed for ‘gardening hands’, and made locally near our farm in Virginia.

7) Dr. Bronner’s Sal Suds
This liquid cleaner is an old stand-by. My guys use this for hiking trips to clean their utensils and to wash their hair, and I keep it on hand to clean kitchen surfaces, and or to gently clean anything at all. It even substitutes as a laundry detergent or dishwashing soap if you run out. You could probably bathe your dog in it too.

8) Citra Solv Natural Window and Glass Cleaner
Some products don’t deliver as promised, but this works as well as the blue toxic stuff, and that says a lot. I also love their all purpose kitchen and bath cleaners, and their citrus fresh scents–blissful.

9) Attitude Bathroom Mold and Mildew Cleaner
A non-toxic way to tackle (possibly deadly) mold in your bathroom.
