What to eat the day after Thanksgiving
Welcome to the day after Thanksgiving.
I hope you had a wonderful day, full of love, and light, and joy. I hope you had a true holiday, that you relaxed with friends and family, and that you gave thanks for your blessings.
Now on to today. If you overdid it, first of all, that’s ok. You’re forgiven by the universal laws of healthy eating. Get over it and move on.
Now what to do.. Even if you only ate slightly more than usual, these tips will help you out too.
1) DON’T starve yourself. This is not the day to go without eating all day. This is not the ideal day for a JUICE FAST, or to begin a cleanse. You have to eat today to keep your metabolism burning yesterday’s meal.
2) DO eat lots of vegetables to keep your digestion moving, and your energy up. Vegetables will also help cleanse your system of the heavy fats and sugars that you may have eaten yesterday. A green smoothie or a green juice is a great idea, but eat solid food during the day as well. Add in a salad for lunch and dinner if you can, or roasted root vegetables.
3) Drink lots of water to counterbalance the alcohol, and to help digestion. This is the perfect day to have 8-10 large glasses. Add some lemon to boost your alkalinity, you’re most likely highly acidic from yesterday’s meal. Make a full pitcher in the morning and commit to finishing it.
4) MOVE! Get outside and walk, move your body in any way possible. A house full of guests? Ask them to join you.
5) Focus on healthy proteins today, rather than simple carbohydrates. This will help to balance your system and stop the cravings for sugar and fatty foods that might happen as a result of yesterdays splurge. This means turkey or to-furkey left-overs with veggies and salad, and try to skip the stuffing and pie.
You’ll be good as new in no time!
