In My… Makeup Bag
It was a dark day when I learned how toxic most of our commercial brands of makeup are, and I systematically make the switch over to healthy, toxin free, safe cosmetics. With help from the Environmental Working Group (www.ewg.org)and their research team, I gradually cleaned out.
All of it.
I have a soft spot for beauty products, especially now that they are ever-evolving and becoming more conscious and healthy. Here’s a sampling of what I use, and I’m sure that when it comes to lipstick, there’s something better in the works, just around the corner.
Ready to get clean? Check out these brands. And BEGIN WITH YOUR LIPSTICK. You end up eating most of it, so it’s important that it’s safe.
1. Butter LONDON
Lippy is made in Britain (obviously!). Butter’s on-trend colors make them a stand-out.
2. RMS
This product could not be more pure. No wonder make up artist, Rose-Marie Swift’s little pots of colors have a cult following.
3. Dr. Hauschka
From Germany, this is an great overall brand of cosmetics. Again, there are passionate devotees for this EU brand.
4. Vapour Beauty
A new favorite of mine. I love this gloss, but also their foundation, and eyeshadows. It’s fun, and cool, with great colors.
5. ZuZu lip gloss
This product comes with an easy, everyday wand. I have these everywhere; handbag, desk drawer, car console. Probably my computer bag too.
6. 100% Pure
I love this company, and use many of their products for the body. How can you go wrong?
7. Sante
This is a real lipstick. Dramatic, when you want that sort of thing.

By Dr. Hauschka, this product works to lengthen and glamorize your lashes.

12.) Juice Beauty & ZuZu
For lighter makeup days, I love Juice Beauty’s CC foundation cream, and ZuZu’s foundation is also a standby.

This line of cosmetics is a classic. Her foundations, and mineral powders are the bomb. An overall cosmetic line winner.
13. RMS
In addition to lip color, I also like their eye shadows, highlighter, and under-eye concealer (my hair stylist uses it as a foundation). Told you RMS had a cult following!
14. Zoyu & Butter LONDON
Fun, and safe nail polish (vegan, cruelty-free). Butter LONDON’s, on trend, Yummy Mummy is a personal favorite.
15. Chanel
Yes, the classic cosmetic company offers toxin free nail polish in only the most chic colors. Oui!
