5 Healthy Tips for Weight Loss

Just tell me what to do..

I hear that all the time from clients. And while I really believe that it’s up to YOU to Discover Your Nutritional Style, (coming September 2014) there are many things that you can do that will bring you healthy benefits, right away.

June, inevitably, is when I field a lot of questions about weight loss, so here are
5 SIMPLE CHANGES that you can make, today, to boost your health, help clear you out, and effortlessly shed a few pounds.

Here we go…

1) Substitute QUINOA for oats, cereal or granola.
Quinoa is easier to digest then grains are for most people, and they’re higher in protein that most cereals, so this seed provides you with more energy, and less brain fog. I make a big batch on Sunday to last the week, and then warm it up in a saucepan with a little bit of water, or fresh almond milk. Add fresh blueberries or strawberries, the milk of your choice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a little stevia if you need it. Delish.

2) Blend BANANAs instead of diving into ice cream.
This treat is addictive, and so healthy you can have it for breakfast. Freeze your bananas ahead of time, (peel first) and blend the bananas in your food processor or blender. Season with raw cacao, or cinnamon, or get additional protein benefits from this recipe for Banana Ice Cream.

3) Carve up an APPLE instead of trail mix.
It’s hard to imagine that a BORING apple could bring satisfaction when you want to munch. So get creative! Carve that juicy goodness into bite size bits, and sprinkle them with cinnamon. For on-the-go, put the pieces into a bag, and shake on the sea salt, pepper, and cinnamon or nutmeg. Curry and Chinese 5-spice? No kidding, they all work.

4) Drizzle EVOO and APPLE CIDER VINEGAR instead of store-bought dressings.
Store bought dressings? Not in my house. Even most organic brands use canola oil (no!) and lackluster ingredients. You need fats, so make them delicious and uber-healthy. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the one to use; it’s on my year-round Superfood list. Try this recipe, shake it up today, and use it all week long.

5) Exchange WATER for everything else.
If you wanna lose weight, forsake all other liquids, (yes, wine too!) and start hydrating with water early and often. Begin your day with warm water and lemon, and then flavor up some water bottles to last the day. My favorite choices for health? Apple cider vinegar (an acquired taste), strawberry slices, lemon and Stevia, cucumbers, orange slices and cinnamon sticks, and the list goes on..
