DYNS Healthy Halloween Tricks
There is something about Halloween that causes even me, a Nutrition Coach, to feel excited. Maybe it’s the crisp air or the excitement of the kids, but I still love this holiday regardless of all the SUGAR it entails.
Each year, without fail, I get lot’s of questions about healthy Halloween snacks. Whether it’s an afternoon treat for the kids, a class party assignment, or trick-or-treaters, us nutrition-savvy ladies are looking for a way to celebrate that does not involve toooo much sugar, right?
Over the years and I shared a lot of my favorite recipes and treats. Here are some of our favorites. I’d love to hear if you try any of them, or if you have your own favorite recipe to share.
- Scary Eyeball Appetizers. What to do when the school you’re volunteering for, says “Fruit and Veggies” only for Halloween? My son and I came up with these a few years back. They are fun to assemble, beautiful to look at, and delicious.
- Pumpkin Smoothie. Don’t limit yourself to using those pumpkins for Jack-o-lanterns! Mix this up for the family this week to get everyone in the Halloween spirit.
- Wormy Mud Balls. Try to have just one!
- Mom’s Tricks for a Healthy Halloween. My personal tips on how to survive Halloween with your family’s Nutritional Style in tact, from an ABC Let’s Talk Live appearance.
