What’s in my suitcase

I’m getting ready to head out of town, and my goal is to maintain my nutritional style as best I can. Perfection is not for me, but letting it all go and eating what’s there doesn’t work for me either. Let’s say I don’t want to come home feeling worse than when I left.

So I’ve been gathering what I need to keep me feeling good, while allowing me to enjoy myself. It’s a vacation, after all.

Want to see what’s in my carry-on? It’s well curated, with a lot of pre-testing and thought.

Feel free to steal my ideas;

What’s already packed:

• Athletic Greens
I discovered Athletic Greens recently, and they’re already an important part of my day. Most green powders have to be masked by a smoothie, but this one tastes delicious on its own. Consider this green powder a supplement, not just a blend of greens.
You’ll find raw super foods, probiotics, enzymes, herbs and minerals, and the quality is top notch. You can order yours right here.

• doTERRA Essential Oils
Whether you’re flying, driving or taking the Acela, these precious oils need to be in your bag.

I don’t leave home without lavender essential oil to help me relax at night (put a few drops on your wrist for fear of flying, rub some between your toes to sleep well).

I use Citrus Bliss to boost my mood and refresh my morning shower (add a few drops to the floor of your shower stall. Just don’t slip!).

• Be Well smoothie packs
The smoothie packs from the Be Well Cleanse are so popular that they’re now offering them on their own.
You’ll be glad you’ve got these delicious packets on hand, to be sure to start your day in a healthy way. They contain fiber, protein and phytonutrients to boost your energy and healthy, whereever you wander. I love to make this berry smoothie and this lemonsicle green smoothie with them.

Other tips:
• Keep moving
Whether you take long beach walks in your bare feet or hit the hotel gym for 45 minutes, it helps to maintain your fitness routine. I’ve already found the nearest barre class where I’m headed, and my bike is coming along too.

• Make dinner reservations ahead of time
Hit the internet and make a list of the hot spots near your destination that offer fresh, healthy, organic, and creative meals. Call ahead to book your reservation, and know that you’ve got that one covered.

• Drink more water
It’s easy to forget to drink enough water when you’re on the move. Make sure you keep your favorite water bottle handy, and ask for water before having anything else when you’re at a restaurant or beach bar. Not only will it help beat any travel bloat, but you’ll have more energy for all your adventures.

• Unplug
There is nothing more relaxing than being away from your in-box and not worrying about email once in a while. Go one step further and don’t post photos of your trip on social media. Seriously, take at least a few days to totally unplug. It may feel strange at first, but you’ll find that this will pay you back with increased productivity when you do return.

Happy travels!
