The Athletic Green Smoothie
I confess. I used to be down on powdered greens.
I thought that they were a poor substitute for the real thing, and I coached my clients to skip them, and go for fresh greens in their juices and smoothies.
Then my world changed. I lost my husband suddenly, and I had to head out on a book tour/launch. Faced with travel and grief I had to change my approach, because even the smallest things had became difficult.
I know now that times of great stress, whether it be a week of intense business travel or a year of sadness creates the need for ease. However you can find it.
For me, that meant reaching for powdered greens to add to my protein smoothie. There were many times when just washing vegetables was too much effort for me.
Luckily, there are many credible brands of powdered greens out there now, but one of my favorites is
by Athletic Greens.
Here’s the recipe I shared the other day on Capitol Hill.
Ingredients
1/2 cucumber, organic with peel on
1 small head romaine
1 handful of baby spinach
1 scoop or packet of Athletic Greens or powdered greens of choice
1 diced mango
1 tablespoon coconut flakes
2 cups or more liquid (water, or DIY nut milk)
Blend and savor
This smoothie was a big hit at my workshop. Here are a couple others that I shared:
The Goddess Shake
Cake Batter Smoothie
Now go enjoy your day!
