Amazing Acai Smoothie

 
You’ve probably seen Acai berry powders, capsules, or purple packets in your grocery freezer section. But is this so-called superfood worth the hype?

High in phytonutrients, omega fatty acids, amino acids and fiber, when it’s in organic form, acai berries are a prime candidate for cleansing, boosting your immunity and rejuvenating your overall wellness.

Acai is a dense source of an anthocyanins and some research shows that they contain significantly higher levels than even the blueberry. Anthocyanins are a subset of antioxidants powerful in combating damage done by free radicals.

Other reasons that this super-berry is being touted:

The Omega fatty acids may help to balance hormones and moods, for all ages.

High in both vitamin C and elegiac acid, these boost your immunity and therefore help to keep disease at bay.

To create this week’s smoothie, we added our favorite matcha from Mel at Maya, and the cleanest organic protein in town.

Amazing Acai
1 packet Cleanse shake powder
1 cup coconut water
1 packet frozen unsweetened Acai (or 2 tablespoons acai powder)
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup of additional water or non dairy milk of choice

Add ice if desired and blend until smooth and creamy.
