Get Moving NOW!
Not all of us are born triathletes, and if you’re the type who has a built in resistance around exercise or movement in general, this one’s for you.
The spring weather can make you want to get going, but you might not know where to begin.
Feel free to take the following tips to heart.
1) Add some tunes
Adding music can not only inspire you to move, but it’ll uplift your spirits, and might even encourage a real-life “happy dance”. Load up your ipod or phone with your favorites, and get back to that music lovin’ girl you used to be.
2) Be happy with anything
Walking doesn’t have to mean 2 or 3 miles for you to get benefits. Just a quick 20-minute walk can improve your fitness level and put a smile on your face.
3) Walking to and from counts
Add your walk into your day any way you can. That might mean walking to and from the office, or walking out to pick up take-out lunch or dinner, or parking far away from the door to Saks or the juice bar.
4) Go for the Baby Step approach
Can’t even get yourself to do the standard “20 minutes”? That’s OK, even 5 or 10 minutes will give you a sense of accomplishment. Baby steps work, and realize that you made progress. Do it again tomorrow.
5) You don’t even have to change your shoes
This doesn’t mean you prance around in 5 inch heels for fitness, but it does mean that you most likely have a lower, comfy pair that you can keep in your desk or your tote, (a permanent item in my travel bag) and you can put those on and go.
Be sure to share YOUR best tips for getting going with us below! I want to know what works for YOU.

Baby steps really do work. I started walking on a treadmill just a couple of weeks ago and could only do 5 minutes at a time. After just 6 days I started feeling better, still just doing one or two 5 minute sessions a day. I noticed I was walking faster around the house, was not out of breath while doing grocery shopping and so forth. On some level it may seem like five minutes is a pathetic start, but if you stick with it, it adds up!

Donna, that’s so true. It can feel so silly sometimes, and that it might not matter but it really does.
Congratulations on those baby steps.

I took up line dancing in January. Daily practice is fun, one hour flies by, the movements are gentle and you can burn 300 calories per hour! Yess!!

I love that, Rosanne! Dancing is such a fun way to get fit. Thank you for sharing.
