Yerba Mate isn’t tea
I’m not a coffee girl, as I’ve shared, so teas and warming drinks help me get through the day.
I believe that almost anything can be solved by a warm cup of something.. My favorite mug, an electric tea pot, and the occasional drop of liquid stevia or raw honey is heaven in a cup.
Here’s a tour of my current favorite teas for energy, relaxing and getting healthy.
When I need a wake-up, energy boost;
- Runa brand, Guayusa tea. Guayasa is high in antioxidants and provides sustainable energy. I’m crazy for the peppermint and ginger citrus spice flavors. Guayusa is my current favorite tea.
- Numi brand, Puerh tea. Puerh has more antioxidants than most green teas. I love the chocolate flavor, with a drop of vanilla cream stevia as a mid-morning treat.
- Mate Factor brand, Yerba Mate. Yerba Mate gives mental clarity and long lasting energy, without the jittery side effects of coffee. I enjoy the lemon ginger, and chai flavors.
When I want to relax, unwind and take a break;
- Organic India brand, Tulsi Tea. Tulsi, otherwise known as holy basil, is popular in India and is an adaptogenic herbal tea that’s uplifting to the spirit. I adore the sweet rose flavor, it makes me feel feminine.:)
- Pukka brand, three ginger herbal tea. Organic ginger, galangal and turmeric combine in this delicious rich tea to detoxify and warm the system. Perfect for a chilly day.
- Ah! Laska brand, non-dairy chocolate mix. The ultimate afternoon snack for me, I sometimes add a peppermint herbal tea bag to create what my son calls, “a warm hug”
Solving problems;
- Yogi brand Cold Season Sampler These herbal teas are blended to allow for clear breathing, throat comfort, immune support, and nasal and bronchial support. This is a great package to have on hand in winter weather.
- Traditional Medicinals brand, Organic Smooth Move Made with the herb, senna, this emergency laxative tea is not for every day use. It’s great for travel or when you just gotta go.
Bedtime tea;
- Pukka brand, nighttime herbal tea. Pukka teas are flavorful and delicious, and this tea has oat flower, lavender, and limeflower for a peaceful sleep
- Peter Gilam’s CALM, magnesium drink. Not a tea, but not to be missed if you really want to relax. This magnesium drink is best warm, and it puts me to sleep fast. Be cautious with your amounts, and go slowly at first, magnesium can give you loose stools.

I completely agree with you about warm liquids making everything better, and I also have a tea cupboard. Like you, I used to be a coffee drinker and loved it. I stopped 8 years ago after my acupuncturist strongly recommended I stop both drinking coffee and “cheating” on my gluten-free diet (I had been wheat-free for over two years at that point). Chai tea (Yogi brand is my favorite), but I also love teas with ginger, mint, rooibos, or green tea.

Hi Rachael, If you are gluten free, there’s some research that coffee affects people who have a gluten intolerance, and can cause you to hold onto weight. Just another reason to kick it to the curb, if you’re in that camp. Thanks for sharing your teas with us!
