Local Honey, Ginger, Lemon Tea
Did you know that a teaspoon of local honey every day can help prevent seasonal allergies? True, according to many holistic and homeopathic practitioners.
Here’s why..
Local honey contains allergens from plants that the bees have gathered, and by ingesting those tiny amounts present in local, unprocessed honey, your body adjusts to those allergens gradually. A teaspoon a day seems to be the recommended amount, and the sooner you begin the better. It seems to take up to a couple of months to take effect.
I’ve worked with many clients who swear by this, so I have known it to be effective. This “tea” puts a tasty spin on your daily honey intake.
I found this recipe over on goop..You’ve probably seen some similar detox type of drinks, (like on my blog here and then, here) but what I wanted to share with you was the ease of preparation.
Leave it to the goop gals to figure that one out!
Makes 1 serving
Ingredients;
½ inch ginger, peeled and sliced
¼ lemon
1 teaspoon local, raw, honey
Preparation;
1. With the back of a knife, smash ginger slices to release the flavor. (don’t you love that? no blender needed!) Add ginger to your cup.
2. Add a teaspoon of local honey and pour in hot water. Let steep for 2-3 minutes, then add juice of lemon.
p.s.Have you seen Gwyneth’s new cookbook? It just came out! I’ve ordered mine, have you?

This morning I ate A handful of Cheerios & yogurt.
A teaspoonful of honey per day sounds like something I’d like to try.
