Nutritional Style’s Chia Fresca
The warmer weather (finally) is making me want to get out and move, so I thought I’d share my favorite sports recovery drink with you. This is great for boosting brain power too, so for days when you’re bonding with your desk and Mac, this will work.
Chia seeds are one of my favorites superfood seeds, they’re anti-inflammatory, and higher in Omega 3 fatty acids than flax seeds. They also contain protein, fiber, calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, and zinc.
You absolutely can use the whole seed, and not the ground version; they absorb up to 10 times their weight in liquid and are readily absorbed by your body (I get lots of questions about whether they need to be ground or not).
Enjoy those EFA’s! (essential fatty acids)
Preparation
1. Fill glass with coconut water and add the chia seeds.
2. Stir the chia seeds around, or do all of this is a shaker or mason jar with a lid and shake it!
3. Add a squeeze of lemon or lime, and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
